Horizon › Performance
The same world, less work per frame.
A native program does not haul a JVM through every client tick. The project's public demo puts Horizon around 150 FPS and vanilla around 50 with no mods.
Hardware, drivers and shaders change FPS. The point stands: the same Minecraft look, a different path to the GPU — a native Rust client.
- Vulkan on Linux and Windows, DirectX 12 if Vulkan fails, Metal on Mac.
- Graphics presets under Horizon Settings.
- Distant terrain up to 1024 chunks.
- Optional 60 FPS cap and fewer workers on battery.
Sodium-style Java mods do not apply. The renderer is already native. Parity write-up: Minecraft on Rust.
