Horizon › Server
A Minecraft server with no Java.
horizon-server is one native process: a 26.3 world, a web panel, backups. Vanilla and Horizon clients can join it.
Two paths. The Servers tab in the launcher does it with buttons. On a VPS, horizon-server installs with one command. Same engine.
From the launcher
- Servers, Create a server.
- Name, a new world or a copy of yours, mode, difficulty, player cap.
- Friends only or an open address. For Horizon players leave account checking off and keep the server on Tailscale or LAN.
- Agree to the Minecraft EULA.
- Start. The card shows TPS, MSPT, RAM, console, players, settings, backups.
The LAN address copies from Overview. For friends off the same Wi-Fi the launcher walks through Tailscale: invite, copy the name, limit access to Minecraft.
Online mode
A server that checks accounts is fine for vanilla players. Horizon clients cannot join that yet: server-side Microsoft login is still being finished. For a Horizon friend world keep offline mode and a whitelist.
Vanilla 26.3 can join a Horizon server. Realms do not work. Playing with friends without a dedicated server uses the invite code in the pause menu.
