Install Horizon

Install Horizon, then Prepare → Play. Works with any Minecraft version on disk.

What you need

  1. Windows x64 and a GPU with DirectX 12 or Vulkan.
  2. Any Minecraft version on this PC.
  3. JDK only if Prepare asks for it. The game does not run on Java.

Steps

  1. Download Horizon from the download page — Win+R or manually.
  2. Run the installer. No admin rights needed.
  3. If no version is installed yet, open Versions and install the current Nightly.
  4. Choose Prepare. Horizon finds your Minecraft folder; if not, point to it.
  5. When preparation finishes — Play.

Signing in is optional.

World folder

This folder is shared across builds. Changing Nightly does not touch worlds.

If it will not open

  • Do not run Horizon from an unextracted ZIP — install properly. Worlds stay.
  • No Vulkan 1.1 and no DirectX 12: update the driver, or use a GPU from around 2016 or newer.

Instances and updates: Horizon launcher. Low FPS: performance.
